About Les Jumelles

ABOUT LES JUMELLES

Les Jumelles means "the twins" in french--you'll get the meaning behind the name when you hear the exciting musical connection  between best friends Sarah and Audrey! Their musical rapport is captivating, and individually they are powerhouses of soul and inventiveness.

Sarah's many musical accolades include the coveted first place prize in the 17th Annual Great American Jazz Piano Competition held in Jacksonville, Florida.  She has appeared on the Nationally syndicated NPR radio show Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland, and performed with  jazz legends Clark Terry, Etta Jones, Anita O'Day, Della Griffin, Ralph Lalama, Alan Harris, Bucky Pizzarelli, Don Braden, and many others. Her debut CD, Indeed! features alto saxophonist Antonio Hart, drummer Tony Reedus and other young jazz giants. Her second CD Moon Song,  features Phil Palombi, Chris Potter and Billy Hart, was released internationally on the Naxos Jazz label and ranked highly on Japanese and American charts after its release. Her third CD, Summer Night was released in October of 2001, featuring the late saxophone giant Michael Brecker.

Audrey enjoys playing just about every genre of music—jazz, klezmer, gospel, funk, classical, and more—on her saxophones, clarinet, and flute. She brings her swinging soulfulness to a number of bands in the tri-state area including the Jazz Lobsters, Klez Dispensers, Metropolitan Gospel Big Band, Gianni Russo (of “Godfather” fame), SIII and the Truth, Swingadelic, and her duo with pianist Sarah Jane Cion called “Jumelles Jazz.” Her saxophone and clarinet work have been featured on recording projects with various groups, and she’s recently played at the Apollo Theater, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Feinstein’s, and the Jersey Jazz Society’s Jazzfest. And look out for her on BET’s “Bobby Jones Gospel Hour” sometime in the Spring of 2010!
